Photos and Highlights from the Unmentionable Lingerie Show!

Marissa Sullivan (emcee of Tuesday night’s Unmentionable lingerie show, the woman behind Portland’s Pretty, and former Merc employee/BFF) will kick someone’s ass if they try to take photos during Portland’s favorite panty show. She informed the audience as much before introducing the first of 11 mostly local lines of mostly lingerie (headliner Rachel Rector doesn’t technically live here anymore, but we still love her, and Lille Boutique‘s trove of gorgeous merchandise rarely originates here, which in no way detracts from its status as the cool girl’s beloved source for well curated underthings; body chains and body paint were also featured).

Luckily, the organizers secured official photography of the runway, which they have just made public. If you missed it, or simply want to take a second look, below are are my favorite looks from each. The takeaway: I was somewhat surprised at the overall tone of functionality. These designers represent a growing group of designers seeking to provide your everyday drawers—not just the stuff that’s costume-y. The vast majority of the design details don’t encumber wearability. Also, high waisted briefs are going nowhere fast (and more people should do them in velvet).
