Valentine’s Day is fast approaching—do you know what you and your boo are going to do? Here are a few of our favorite food-focused options, from no-holds-barred prix fixe affairs (pro tip: have sexy time first; you’ll be too full after dinner) to little boxes of gold-flecked churros to please your love. (All events are on February 14, unless otherwise noted.)

Aviary

Two-time James Beard nominated Chef Sarah Pliner is hosting a four-course dinner, marrying her criminally underrated French technique with Asian flavors. This Northeast Alberta hideaway has vegetarian options as well, and is $75 a person with a $35 wine pairing. Reservations can be made by phone only, at 503-287-2400.

Morgan St. Theater

Celebrate with “An Evening in Spain.” Hosted in the Inner Eastside Shout House space, performers from Espacio Flamenco will sing, dance, and play music, and it’s all paired with Morgan St.’s super-tasty ice cream desserts inspired by the flavors of Spain. The $50 ticket includes dessert, flamenco, a glass of champagne, and gratuity.

Quaintrelle

The best restaurant on Mississippi, Quaintrelle, is playing it chill for Valentine’s, running its normal menu alongside specials such as scallops and a rib-eye for two with Oregon black truffles. Bar manager Camille Cavan will be mixing up cocktails for two, served tableside. Reservations are strongly recommended by calling 503-200-5787 or at quaintrelle.co.

Pix Patisserie

First, some lucky lover is gonna get a box that looks like it contains Pix handmade chocolates, but really has a pair of diamond earrings! Suck it, Willy Wonka! Also, give your sweet some sweets with a Valentine’s tea service for two, with 20 sweet and savory courses, two pots of Townshend’s tea, and two glasses of sparkling wine for $80 per couple. Seatings are at 2 pm and 3:30 pm on February 10 and 11, reservations required at 971-271-7166.

Coquine

Act fast to get the remaining reservations for a five-course menu from Chef Katy Millard. I already want to make love to her food, so hopefully the feeling transfers. Reservations can be made via TOCK (exploretock.com/coquinepdx) for $150 per person.

Natty by Nature

Wine wonder Dana Frank promises a casual, wine bar-style evening with unique pours and old-school hip-hop. Tournant will provide food, including oysters and Spanish-style bites. Reservations are recommended, though there isn’t formal seating. Tickets include food and one glass of wine and are $49 in advance at tournantpdx.com/events/ and $59 at the door.

Oui! Wine Bar + Restaurant at the SE Wine Collective

This new intimate venture is one of the best prix fixe deals out there. Grab Chef Althea Grey Potter’s family style meal from $35 per person and pair it with some of the city’s best wines. Reservations can be made at 503-208-2061 or info@sewinecollective[dot]com.

DOC

This Northeast 30th Italian classic is doing two seatings (6 and 8:30 pm) of a six-course dinner and a glass of bubbles for $125 each, not including gratuity. A wine pairing is $75. Reservations required.

Le Pigeon/Little Bird

HOLY SHIT Valentine’s at Le Pigeon is $250! BUT it includes food, wine, and service—and a luxurious-ass meal that will have ALL the fancy things: courses with foie gras, caviar, the already-iconic whole duck ducketta (set to debut at Chef Gabriel Rucker’s upcoming Canard restaurant), and lobster. There are two seatings, and reservations are required at lepigeonpdx.com. Want a taste of the Rucker & Co. magic for less? Downtown’s lovely Little Bird will have a three-course menu for $65 a person, with reservations being taken by phone at 503-688-5952.

Ray

At Jenn Louis’s Israeli restaurant on North Williams, there’s a three-course Valentine’s Day menu for $65 per person. Nibble on labneh smoked salmon with ikura roe, make googly eyes over chicken schnitzel, and feel frisky with lamb stuffed chard leaves mujadra. Reservations at raypdx.com.

Bar Casa Vale

Nate Tilden’s Spanish influenced restaurant and bar located in Southeast Portland will be serving a three-course menu for $50 per person (Fideos! Grilled octopus! Delicious dessert!) with additional beverage pairings for $30.
