Hey y’all: As we inch closer to war with multiple countries, now’s as good a time as any to remind you there’s still three days left to take advantage of the Mercury’s Highball Week, which features $5 cocktails at more than 40 different bars scattered all over town. Drink ‘em while ya got ‘em! On to the news.

This week, we reported that Crackerjacks Pub & Eatery up on NW Thurman will start selling al fresco Jell-O shots from its Hell-O Jello food/booze cart on Fridays and Saturdays this spring and summer. We had the news that NOLA Doughnuts, the Lake Oswego bakery with Crescent City roots is now open in the Pearl. And we also reported that PBJ’s Grilled, the famed (and shuttered) food cart brand is mounting a comeback: It’ll open sometime this summer, also in the Pearl. (We should note, however, that as we were writing and editing that piece, the nerds over at Eater scooped us, beating us to the punch by a few hours.)

Also, Mercury food critic Andrea Damewood would like to bring this to your attention:

Speaking of Eater…the website reported, by way of KPTV, that a food cart exploded at the new BG’s Food Cartel pod in Beaverton on Wednesday morning, sending one person to the hospital. It also had the news that Tails & Trotters, the famed butchers and sandwich makers, have reopened their Kearns deli after a fire burned it to the ground last year. The website also let us know that Du’s Grill, the 20-year-old teriyaki joint, has opened a second location in Hillsboro. And finally, it broke the news that Isaac Brock’s new bar, Poison’s Rainbow was almost named Magic Fucking Flute. Other possible monikers included Glory Hole, Dildo Box Dioramas, Trash Panda, and Golden Casket. 😑

The Oregonian made it official by reporting that the Cracker Barrelization of the state will continue when the box eatery opens a third location Medford sometime this October.

And, finally, Willamette Week gave us the back story of the Kee’s #Loaded food cart, which the alternative weekly named as its 2018 Cart of the Year. Check it out; it’s a great read.
