The annual E3 expo is this week, so the ‘net is about to be drenched in wildly optimistic gaming news. My deep cynicism allows me to dismiss the majority of it as “lame,” “expected” or “from Sony,” but some things just have to be pimped forcefully through the Mercury’s Internet tubes.
Example: The new trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Personally, I don’t get the cultish affection geeks have for the space opera, but I can recognize how special this upcoming MMO might be.
If, for no other reason, than Old Man Lucas has yet to fuck the entire concept in the name of merchandising.
Giddy?

Kind of makes me wish I had a Windows machine. **sigh**
The entire concept IS merchandising. That’s what video-game tie-ins ARE.
example: this trailer for Kinect Star Wars:

I recently realized that my post-prequel self might actually prefer Star Trek over Star Wars. WTF?!
Is it okay for me to still be grumpy that this new KOTOR is an MMO instead of a single-player RPG? Because I’m holding onto that resentment until the day I die. Or until Bioware does another regular KOTOR, one that I don’t have to pay a monthly fee and devote 40-plus hours a week to in order to enjoy. Whichever comes first.
ALSO WHAT THE EFF IS ANAKIN DOING IN THERE I THOUGHT THIS WAS OLD REPUBLIC NOT CLONE WARS
also this is possibly the lamest comment i’ve ever commented
