Fans of the popular Showtime program Dexter probably won’t be surprised by today’s news. Michael C. Hall and wife, Jennifer Carpenter have filed for divorce. Apparently, they were separated for a while before filing.
Can anyone with any knowledge of this show honestly say they never saw this one coming? I mean this in all sincerity.
If you didn’t know, Hall and Carpenter play siblings on the the show Dexter. For four seasons Hall’s character Dexter Morgan had a serious relationship (including sex) with a fairly attractive Rita played by Julie Benz—now on No Ordinary Family.
Carpenter’s Deb Morgan is an emotionally unstable slut. She bangs, like, two main characters and a myriad of one night stands. Being on Showtime the camera can get little dirtier with things, thus we see Deb Morgan in her underwear a lot while she makes out with and sexes all kinds of guys.
I realize that they’re both “professionals.” There’s evidence that porn actors make these types of relationships work—not all, but some. Still, watching your wife get it on—even pseudo sex—for five years has to be a little weird. Plus, think of the insecurity issues (on her part) watching Hall get it on with an increasingly more attractive Julie Benz— seriously, Benz in season one to Benz in season four, wow.
Surprised, I’m not. Or maybe it’s just me projecting here. Either way go watch Dexter. It’s a fun little show.
Um. Slut? Really?
Having watched Buffy after seeing the three seasons of Dexter, it was pretty funny to see Rita as a vampire in the first season. She’s in the opening credits and everything!
She’s cute, but I stood up and cheered when Trinity finally got rid of her whiny ass. I love this show, but you could kill nearly the entire supporting cast and replace them with new actors and the show wouldn’t lose a thing. This show would have lasted half a season if not for the brilliance of Michael C. Hall.
I dumped Dexter after the Soap-Opera-ish ridiculous dialog/script of episode 3. Glee? 5 minutes twas all it took.
I believe Dan Savage would disagree with your last paragraph Mr. Intern. In fact, he’d say that watching your wife with another man would make you want to schtoop her more.
I’m trying to make sense of this post. Maybe ranking each actor’s hotness on a scale of 1-10 would help.
Your assumptions about actors reveal far more about your ignorance than you may suspect. Comparing a dramatic series to porn is like comparing a tricycle to a band aid. Acting has little to do with porn sex (or were you too busy watching the sex to notice?), and sex has even less to do with acting in a drama (or were you too busy watching the acting to notice?). Actors are real people who have real problems, that’s why they get divorced. And calling her a slut and neglecting to call him a psychopath makes me think you need some gender training. It’s like potty training, only for adults….

Rita is cute but I’m oh-so-glad she fucking killed herself. Shit that bitch was annoying as all hell and really the only character I couldn’t wait for Dex to finally butcher.
I couldn’t care less that Dex didn’t get the pleasure of finally killing her, though. I’m just glad she’s gone and left Dex the kids.
