- Vote for ’em both!
After last week’s environmental debate between three gubernatorial candidates, major green group the Oregon League of Conservation Voters (OLCV) has made a surprising endorsement: it’s supporting BOTH John Kitzhaber and Bill Bradbury for governor.
From the OLCV’s statement: โA dual endorsement is fairly rare, but this is an exceptional case. Having two gubernatorial candidates with such especially strong environmental credentials represents a milestone in Oregonโs environmental movement.โ
Thanks a lot, guys. Thanks a lot. You can’t just endorse both candidates! There’s one month until the primary and you’re not making it easy for the voters who have to check one box for governor. At this rate, voters are going to have to choose between the two similar candidates based on their differing tie choice. But at least the OLCV will have good relations with whichever Democrat takes the seat…
More reporting on the environmental stances of the candidates here.

i saw bradbury filming something(commercial?) next to boise-elliot elementary last week. i wouldnt have recognized him without the segway.
this is kind of a loss for Bill, right? I mean he’s kind of setting himself up there as the true green candidate with the strong CRC and LNG stance. (PS – why are so many environmental issues acronymized?)
Wouldn’t it be nice if Oregon politicians weren’t all the exact same person?
Actually, mojowen, it would be worth your time to go watch the OLCV/Sierra/EO debate. Kitzhaber came out much stronger on the LNG issue, talking in specifics about the natural gas reserves under our feet and the detriments of permanently destroying habitats to import natural gas from countries that don’t like us very much.
I could have done without the addition of “but I wouldn’t slam any doors in this economy,” but you have to save some ammo for the general. Especially with Chris “I can just talk about the Constitution and buy this thing, right?” Dudley about to clinch the GOP nod.
i’m relieved. after screwing up so many other races (HD37, Mult Co 2) they got this one right. both men are proven leaders; both deserve the support of the environmental community.
Ahhh, but Kitz can seriously rock the jeans and boots look. Dr. K has got my vote.
