Attention Employers!
Are your employees having trouble making sales? Are they putting in the effort, but unable to close the deal with customers? Then look no further than this 2003 employee training video from Pier One which uses the unfortunate medium of “rap” to get its message across. (Of course, one could merely say to one’s employee, “Hey Don, when you engage with a customer, it’s easier to make a sale.” But where’s the rap in that? Where’s the rap, where’s the rap, where’s the rappity-rap-rap, ‘cuz their name is Pier One and they’re here to say, that they’re the best rappers in the USA, uh-huh-uh-huh-huh-HUH!)

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. add Pier 1 to the long list of companies i won’t patronize because they’ve offended/embarrassed me with their advertising/what-have-you…..

oh, but that was back in 2003, and the company has since become more dignified in the way that it runs its training programs? — too late — the damage is done — my mind is tainted for evermore, even though i only watched about 30 seconds’ worth.

thank you, mr. humphrey, for starting my day off right by topping-off my misanthropy fuel tank.
