Were always looking for heroes. Why do all the guys I meet from the Vietnam Era say they were snipers? Do all these people really believe we think they are telling the truth? OF course not. You see there are so many sniper stories going around, and no one seems to call them out. The truth is , most of the troops over there in the day, were ordinary folks that did not come back and tell all kinds of lies about their valor. Just the ones that knew how to get more monies and tell folklore to their relatives. Oh well, just keep on lying. You have begun to believe you did all this stuff. You are not a hero, but a liar.

I am anti-war but it’s really close to Memorial Day so go fuck yourself.
@offdutydog what are you, twelve?
Obviously. That’s why I give a shit about mentally fucked up Vietnam Vets.
I/A, I am going to weigh in on this because the VA has been allowing this to happen by changing the Veterans to a new supposed better access to medical records and claims and appeals. The Vietnam Veterans have struggled so long and hard to finally be heard, and it is just a terrible mess. The best thing to do is contact your Senators and let them know you are unable to get a claim or appeal processed in a timely manner. Some are waiting for years, but are not in a position to hire an attorney. That being said, most PTSD Veterans have just been treated horrible. There was a fire in Kansas City that supposedly destroyed some records. There is a lot of cover ups. I am the child of a military man, the wife of one also. My husband has more than PTSD, he is also a victim of agent orange. He worked 35 years in the private sector until he needed the VA with zero help until he contacted his Senator. Please get help through these channels: you can raise a little hell. No I did not write this rant, and I hope all you men and women who served our country get your help before you die. Good Luck, and no most do not claim to be snipers. Just a few smarter than the average Vietnam Vets. Remember contact your Senators. They will act shocked like they don’t know the delays. This is why the young ones from our most recent wars, are so discouraged and homeless. i wish you all the luck in the world. Start standing up for your rights. The young, the old, just try to speak up and don’t take the VA’s nonsense. Do not be afraid of them. There will always be those who fool the system, most do not.
I really as a crazy batshit Vietnam vet, as good ol offdutydog calls us, could never understand the reason so many vets want to say they were snipers. They were great shots and pretty ballzy I’ll give them that, but they we’re cold blooded assassins. (Just like hunters). I only shot people that were shooting at me or in an ambush site that were preparing to kill me. I get real itchy around people that laugh and joke about shooting some guy waking up to take a piss in the back of the head from a few hundred feet.
Whoa, MM! Never called anyone crazy! I’ve met a vet that said he was a “sniper”. His records show he never left states. I have met a few that said they were snipers and it’s a pscho-code for murder or other various war crimes. Mostly encouraged or condoned after the fact, so what is reality?
Most veterans don’t like talking about what went on in Nam, but most of the ones who got killed were idiots, fucking around off by themselves, or kicking tin cans trip wired to explosives. Also, you could buy a body bag full of Vietnamese Black Cannabis for a mere, fifty cents (USD).
