If you haven’t heard (probably because many news outlets aren’t reporting it very vigorously): An anti-government protest escalated into an armed takeover of a federal wildlife building in Oregon.

That’s right, a bunch of right-wing, anti-government WHITE MALES have taken over a government building. Just like good ol’ Cliven Bundy, these WHITE MALES are free to defy the gub’ment using guns and pretty much nothing will happen to them.

Can you imagine if a group of black men took over a government building by force? What do you think would happen then? Would the media just sort of sweep the story under the rug? Would law enforcement agencies be so open to “having a discussion” or would the black men be dealt with in a barrage of bullets?

Seriously, what would happen if these domestic terrorists were African American?

See, when I hear whiny white people talk about how they don’t have any special privileges, or how racism is over in this country, I just think about stories like these and many, many, MANY others. Stories where white people can take up arms against the government and the attitude of most white people is: “Well, I’m shure they got good cause… ’cause it’s the American way. If that ol’ Tree of Liberty ain’t watered with the blood of something or other… I forget. Honey, pass me the Cheetos and Mountain Dew, I gotta write a blog post ’bout how white folk is oppressed in this here country and that it’s Obammy’s fault”

  2. it is good that they are treating this with little media fanfare, just as they should. Why give them the media attention they crave? It is just a few rednecks who broke into a non-essential government building that was unnoccupied. Not quite the “armed takeover” you paint it to be. The feds are best to hold off and let these losers burn themselves out, just as they would if any group…white black or brown…did this amateurish “occupation”. Rest assured that the authorities are watching the situation closely, but its best to just let it be for now. And, name one example of blacks or other minorities doing something like this (note again, that no violence has been committed and nobody is currently directly threatened) where it was treated differently…..

Anyone who thinks a similar group of BLACK MALES would not be immediately slaughtered in a hail of bullets is fucking delusional. Of course if you were up on current events you would know that “right wing” and “anti government” rarely offers an accurate depiction of any one person, unless you meant to say “white ring” or “wing nut”. Also, describing a remote wildlife post as a “government building” is nothing less than inflammatory. It might be technically true that its federally regulated but let’s face the truth: a bunch of gun toting rednecks took over an unsecured, unarmed wildlife building in the middle of nowhere. For fucksakes let em pass out from the bud light and bring em home to their mommies. THAT’S what we do to white criminals in this country. If they were black they would be dead, it would be international news, and Trump would be calling them Muslims.

  12. These men remind me of an old western. I wanted to go visit Sunday, but it snowed. New out in the North West,and I thought I could get my Oregon freak on.
    It sounds like these guys have plenty of money to hold up forever and that means more unemployment. Then I read they need snacks. Get your own damn snacks freeloaders. If you send a call of arms out over Facebook, at least come prepared. The Ted Bundy guy has 40 siblings. I think they should bring food carts. Circle the wagons.

  14. What would happen if they were African-American? Probably what they did to the MOVE compound in Philly back in 1985. If they were Native-American we’d have a Wounded Knee incident like in 1973.
