I’m all for human decency, esp between shop workers. But if you’re a fellow shop worker you should know that virtually a million things have to be complete before you can legally open the doors or properly run business. You already waited all night for your misplaced “item”. Why couldn’t you wait a few more minutes til this person had a chance to do their job and flip the open sign?

I’ve showed up early to a place and been told nicely they weren’t open. course I wasn’t trying to retrieve something.
I’ve sat around the bar after it closed and drank with the bartender.
