This morning, I woke up like any morning the last few months, under the overhang that provided my covered sleeping area. This particular morning that wake up was given to me by Portland’s finest, “cant sleep here, it has an overhang…”. Well, as soon as that was done I needed to do what most people do in the morning, go take a massive dump. I needed it in a hurry. I walk the half block to the “public restroom” and sure enough, it is locked for another two hours. Thanks Downtown Dirty and Scary… (changed the name there to protect the innocent.)
Well, at that point I am left with two choices; hope I can make it the 20 blocks to a restroom that will let me use it, or walk across the street and crap in the park…
Well, let me tell you, although it was a relief, it was a bit awkward, squatting in a park to relieve myself of a bodily function that everyone should have a place to do… About half way through, I had this mental image of stepping before the judge and trying to get my case thrown out because it was entrapment… The city admits it cant afford to house everyone, or “toilet” everyone, but would right me a ticket, possibly making me a sex offender for doing something that everyone on the planet has to do at some point… take a crap…
I get that the city cant give everyone a job, or housing to every person who would like one, but at least make sure there is enough fucking restrooms for everyone that you cant afford to house… till then, CRAP ON YOU!

To the OP: I hope you’ll ignore the complete lack of compassion the respondents here have shown you. No one but you knows the particulars of your situation. All I can say is that, as you know better than anyone, it’s shockingly easy in America to become homeless. Thousands of educated, middle-class people end up in that situation through no fault of their own. There’s no safety net in the US. I honestly hope that the posters here never need to discover that. But more than that, I hope the OP finds a way off the streets and into happiness soon.
My stepdad had a job and a family but also a drinking and hitting problem therefore ended up on the street and because he was not white had a very hard time getting back on his feet. He died on the street.

um im pretty sure mcdonalds is always hiring i di it for a few months when i couldn’t get another job. Your drinking and drug problem is just that your problem, don’t use it as an excuse to get a handout
