Seriously who gives a shit? I am tired of hearing about it. Boo hoo it could potentially be unfair to small business owners that don’t pay their employees a living wage anyways or provide health insurance anyway. Boo hoo it could affect Portland’s “middle class” aka Portland’s petty bourgeois class aka the class of people responsible for white liberal washing of N. Mississippi, N. Williams, N.E. Alberta, and many working class neighborhoods to come. Boo hoo it could make gas more expensive, like we wouldn’t just go to Gresham, Tigard or wherever to buy cheaper gas if that was the case. We all know that wherever this money is eventually sucked from it will NOT go to actually fixing streets in the areas that need it like Lents, Cully, King, etc. Isn’t it obvious its just going to more of the mayor’s “renewal” projects to force out poor homeowners in working class neighborhoods and consolidate the poor into Home Forward fka Portland Housing Authority where they can be condensed and monitored like criminals? Eff’ all these turds writing op-ed piece’s in the Oregonian about it and eff’ Portland’s ‘middle class’ citizens that want to act all up in arms about ‘inequity’. You want to see inequity? Look at the parents and children that have to endure the eyesore of tolerated prostitution on 82nd Avenue everyday on the way to work and school v. neighborhoods in SW where you need a goddamn permit to park your car on a side street. Portland Street Fee controversy. What a joke.
Portland Street Fee Controversy – WTF? Who Cares?
Comments are closed.

We need a scarf tax.
Who cares?!?! Pretty much anybody that will have to fork over this bullshit tax, that’s who.
” Isn’t it obvious its just going to more of the mayor’s “renewal” projects to force out poor homeowners”
That’s an argument that we should give a shit, right?
Sooooo this thing sucks and we shouldn’t trust the council to use the funds properly but you don’t think people should complain?
Rick you need to ask your overlords at Chase Bank for a raise if you can’t afford this paltry annual fee. ๐
^ Or maybe you could just pay it for me there “Moneybags.”
The irony of a liberal wanting a bailout ๐
^ About as ironic as a conservative not bitching about taxes.
Prostitution was much more discreet when SW Broadway, downtown, was open for cruising.
I drive my daughter past 82nd st every day. I have never seen anything worth covering her eyes. The amount of ignorance about E Portland tells me people are crawling out of the whitest, most isolated culdesac, gated communities in the US and heading straight for inner PDX. Maybe we can spend the street tax money to put a giant gate with key pad around the entire inner Portland area?
Idiot.
The stupidity of this rant, for a variety of reasons, is astounding.
Anyway or Anyways. Make a choice and be consistent. Inconsistency is so inconsistent. Makes me think I am dealing with humans.
So this may not get past the censors but I want to clamp your anus with this special anus clamp and attach it to this 20 ft golden chain and attach that to my dog (not one of those little dogs, jeesh) and yell, squirrel!! Go Blazers!
In fact, I was going to move back to Santa Cruz, but now I am going to buy one more property, just to help Portland be more better.
You know who won’t get hurt by a street fee? Every giant corporate behemoth that probably already enjoys a number of tax breaks and subsidies for being “job creators” and “spurring urban development”.
So yeah stick it to all those scumbags who own the businesses that sell you the quality goods those vapid, banal, injection molded plastic, designed for a landfill shit peddlers can’t get made in a third world country for two cents and a pack of cigarettes.
I rarely see much evidence of prostitution on 82nd these days, and this is coming from a guy who drives up and down 82nd frequently—sometimes several times in the same night specifically looking for prostitutes!
Not sure about all this other ranting but I’m pretty sure there’s plenty of prostitution on 82nd Avenue. What do you think ‘lingerie modeling’ or ‘private adult shows’ are? Not to mention all the skeezy hourly rate motels? Ya’ll are living in denial if you can’t see that those types of businesses are havens for prostitution and sex trafficking.
I worked for a company that got taxed out of Portland. Small businesses with 5-6 employees get hammered in this town. Our boss was more than generous and barely kept out of the red some years. We saved over 15 grand a year by moving to clackamas.
Most of the sex workers on 82nd congregate at the north end, around the Sandy intersection.
I completely agree with IA. i just don’t like his delivery technique. Needs more snide class warfare remarks in it, among other things.
