I’m someone who yelled and cussed in front of your kid — that’s not cool. Last year our small dog was killed and my partner was injured by two off-leash pit bulls in a random attack in NE Portland. When we’re out, any big dog running over to us off leash is scary, and makes us wonder if we’re about to have to defend ourselves. We avoid off-leash dog areas since that’s the designated place to let your pup run, but thinking your dog should be allowed to run free anywhere, including in any city park, is a level of unearned privilege you might want to reflect on.—Anonymous
