When you drive, the place to stop is several feet before the stop sign. I cannot reconcile this with the rolling “California Stop” we are all used to, but I can tell you that as a pedestrian trying to cruise at speed down a commercial street, stopping the walk at every block for an embarrassed (you know you are wrong!) driver sitting in the crosswalk pointlessly waving their heads to left and right awaiting a pause in the traffic – block after block – every block – makes the whole thing dadaistic or sadistic. Please let pedestrians have priority access to the crosswalk!—Anonymous
