Local writer Melissa Lion has a piece on the motherf**kin’ Daily Beast (which is edited by TINA BROWN, who knew PRINCESS DIANA) today about local stripper and Mercury contributor Viva Las Vegas. Lion Tweeted about it this morning, but I only just saw it. Lion already has two novels published, so this is hardly a “breakthrough” in the sense that it would be if, say, you or I were to get something published on there. But it’s great to see a local name getting national pixels. Well, two local names, really. Well done all round!

Yay, Melissa Lion! Woooooo!
Viva published an amazing essay on her progress in the Portland Monthly maybe… four months ago? What a story.
So proud of my Melissa Lion. SO PROUD.
I’ve written for The Daily Beast too. And my story was about my son’s penis and the horrors of foreskin!

Okay, I’ll be quiet now.
Thanks, Matt. I met Tina Brown last month so now she’s met Princess Diana AND Melissa Lion.
Also, it’s on the homepage for the Daily Beast today!
