Gizmodo says that a new law in California would punish people who assume another person’s identity online:
It’s been put to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, with the new bill landing such identity thieves with a $1,000 fine or up to a year in jail, along with the opportunity to sue for compensation.
The limits of parody will probably be legally tested almost immediately. I expect The Hulk, for one, to be doing a whole lot of suing.

Drat, there goes the old trick of posting under the name “Natasha Richards” to get your tech questions on message boards answered quicker and in greater detail.
That’s it! Enough! Everyone can go home! I said so. What? Don’t believe it’s me? JUSTIN BIEBER IS TEH BEST’EST!
Also, drinks are on my at Club 21. Just put it on my tab.
Is it still okay to assume the evil version of their identity?
“You wouldn’t like me when I’m… litigious.”
