Ice Cube recorded that song when he was 19--didnt you feel the same way when you were that age? Hasn't your world-view developed since then? On his solo records, he's clearly a story-teller, not some ready-to-die revolutionary--he's just an entertainer. Once he grew up, it was never really "bigger than hip hop", you dig? I think it's more important to focus on him being a successful entertainer for over 25 years, not that he isn't the same pissed-off teenager we all dug when we were pissed-off teenagers. He's making blockbusters that star strong black men, isn't that enough?
