Beavis and Butt-head and King of the Hill creator Mike Judge just can’t catch a break in Hollywood. After getting screwed over on Office Space by Fox (only to have the film become a cult classic on video) and then getting screwed over on Idiocracy, once again by Fox (only to have that film, too, prove to be a bit of a cult hit in its own right), now he’s got his next film lined up. Luckily, the project’s not lined up with Fox–so it might actually have a chance. Still, for some reason I can’t help but picture a big Acme-brand anvil falling on Judge’s head or something in middle of the shoot. Variety has the lowdown.

Ben Affleck is ready to suit up for Miramax’s Mike Judge comedy Extract.

Actor is in negotiations to play the best buddy of Jason Batemen’s [sic] character, a flower extract factory owner dealing with workplace problems and a streak of bad luck, including his wife’s affair with a gigolo.

Clifton Collins Jr. is also joining the cast as a factory worker who loses a body part in a freak accident and is now due for a huge settlement. Mila Kunis and Kristen Wiig have already boarded the project, which begins lensing Monday in Los Angeles.

No word on when Extract might hit theaters, but if it’s anything like Judge’s previous films, we’ll hear about it for a good long while, then it’ll get dumped into four theaters with no advance screenings, show up on DVD a few weeks later, and turn into a big underground hit.

In the meantime, here are six minutes of excellent television.
