Went to a friend’s house when I was an innocent 11 year old. He threw in a copy of Maniac into the vcr. That movie is fucked up. Seared, disturbing images remain in my brain many, many years later.
The director came to Olympia ten years ago for a screening during the annual All Freakin’ Night horror fest. He seemed kind of timid and overly defensive of the movie, even though the audience was totally into it.
Fun, nasty movie! Caroline Munro is terrific as always, and some really sick gore effects from Tom Savini.
He always wanted to make a romantic comedy.
