Local band Hausu—yes, they share the name with the indescribable crazypants bizarro 1977 Japanese horror(ish?) flick—has a new 7-inch out on Portuguese label LebensStrausse. If you haven’t yet heard Hausu, their wiry, taut sound finds a perfect marriage of lo-fi ’60s garage and ’80s post-punk, while sounding derivative of neither. We’ve got an exclusive track over on End Hits, as well as info on their upcoming West Coast tour. To check it out, put your mouse arrow on this link and depress the button.
End Hits: Remember the part in Hausu where that dude turned into a bunch of watermelons?

They have potential, but I disagree with them not sounding derivative. Reminds me of:

Listen this and then tell me, it ain’t derivative. Don’t get me wrong I dig the sound, but if they’re really artists they should be able to do what Sleep did to Black Sabbath- different genre but the same rules apply.
Ned, if you turned into a bunch of watermelons you’d know if you were in a FUCKING horror flick or not.
