As you wait on the edge of your chair for Pickathon’s 2020 lineup to be announced, reminisce about 2019 with this video of folk duo Mandolin Orange—comprised of married couple Andrew Marlin (vocals, mandolin, guitar, banjo) and Emily Frantz (vocals, violin, guitar—playing “Suspended In Heaven” at the Starlight Stage last year.
While Pickathon has notably diversified their bills in the last few years, the North Carolina-based duo’s live set is exactly the kind of country sound you’d expect to hear at a festival set on a quaint farm in the middle of the forest. Even if Americana/folk isn’t your thing, it’s hard not to feel lulled into relaxation by this live, late-night rendition of the song, which first appeared on the duo’s album Tides of a Teardrop.
