I get a lot of press releases, but it’s been a minute since I’ve heard anything this good from a new artist. This morning I received an email about a song that I can honestly say I’m playing on repeat: “Days” by Portland rapper A Mitch (AKA Adrian Mitchell). It’s from his album Pro Bono, which he released earlier this year.
“Days” is excellent—the production, the haunting piano melody, A Mitch’s flow—as is the rest of Pro Bono. The track’s accompanying music video was beautifully shot by local director Erik Eagon. It finds A Mitch stranded at the Oregon Coast, spoofing Cast Away as he moves through the waterfalls and woods with his very own Wilson.
Before today I’d never heard of this guy—neither had the Mercury‘s copy chief/”Sneaker Wave” columnist Jenni Moore—but it’s safe to say he has our attention.
