Scottish folk guitarist Bert Jansch passed away earlier today, succumbing to lung cancer which seemed, at one point, to be in remission, but sadly returned. Jansch played a memorable show at Mississippi Studios in June of last year, and seeing his breathtaking guitar work up close and personal was astonishing. I had the opportunity to speak with Jansch in advance of the Mississippi Studios show for an article for the paper.
The full transcript of that interview is now up on End Hits. Rest in peace, Bert.
End Hits: Harvest Your Thoughts of Love.

Aww. I’m quite sad about this. God, truly a master, he was.
Became a devotee many years ago and saw him a few times in the Bay Area. Stunning, stunning guitar work and beautiful tunes.
During break at one of his shows the bathroom cleared and at one point it was he and I whizzing side by side. I remember distinctly: I said “you sound great.” He thanked me, we continued to pee in silence. I finished first and left. It was awkward, but indelibly etched in my mind.
