Portland’s Blowout recently released the loud, sweet emo-punk lead single “Indiana” from their forthcoming debut full-length, No Beer, No Dad. It feels nostalgically giddy, like being in middle school science lab and getting partnered with your crush. Drums sound like love-drunk heartbeats while Laken Wright longingly sings, “Just wanna be right next to you, there’s no one else I’d rather talk to/With all your cuts and scars, making biscuits once more on your favorite fleece I’m picking up the fur.” It’s easy to see why it’s been mistaken a love song, but Wright clearly asserts that “People just bore me.” “It’s real fun that most people don’t know all of the lyrics to the song yet and think it’s about the state or some random person, when it’s really about Laken’s cat,” says Brennan Facchino (guitar). No Beer, No Dad is out August 5th on Lauren Records and Making New Enemies.
