From an interview with Blondie’s Debbie Harry via The Selvedge Yard:
“It was in the early ’70s and I was trying to get across town at two or three o’clock in the morning. This little car kept coming around and offering me a ride. I kept saying ‘No’ but finally I took the ride because I couldn’t get a cab.”
“I got in the car and the windows were are rolled up, except for a tiny crack. This driver had an incredibly bad smell to him. I looked down and there were no door handles. The inside of the car was stripped. The hairs on the back of my neck just stood up.”
“I wiggled my arm out of the window and pulled the door handle from the outside. I don’t know how I did it, but I got out. He tried to stop me by spinning the car but it sort of helped me fling myself out.”
” Afterwards I recognized him on the news ………”
CAN YOU GUESS WHO TRIED TO MURDER DEBBIE HARRY? The SHOCKING answer after the jump!
Afterwards I recognized him on the news— Ted Bundy.”
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

If it were a just world, Blondie woulda been waaayyy bigger than Madonna ever was.
I call bullshit. Bud Bundy would’ve been like 2 years old at that point. No way was he driving car.
Graham – what? Ted Bundy was born in 1946 and did his murdering in the mid 70’s…
chris chris chris….
As per Graham and a website I rarely ever have to post links to on Blogtown…

Damnit. I was going to guess that it was Stuntman Mike.
humanclock beat me to it. This has been refuted several times. Though I’m sure the situation she describes was a dangerous one, it’s unlikely it was Ted Bundy.
WM.™ STEVEN HUMPHREY
Leave it to Blogtownies to stick up for Ted Bundy.
My ma was picked up Bundy too while she was hitchhiking in the 70s. She described him as some weirdo in a Slugbug with a Washington license plate, and an arm cast. She believes nothing happened because she was with a friend. She recognized him later the same way as Debbie Harry.
@ Frank
Blondie were still trying to make it, when Bundy was on the prowl. At that point Debbie was probably still an unknown.
nevermind Frank, I misread that…
If everyone who claims to have been picked up by Ted Bundy had actually been, they never would have caught him. Because it would mean he had super powers and could bend space and time.
It was probably just another Ted Bundy wannabe. They can be so annoying.
I’ve seen at least one urban legend web site debunk debbie’s story saying bundy wasn’t in New York at the time she claims.
@sean: Did you even *read* the other comments? You should always read the comments. (Except Graham’s.)
