The Windish Agency

Following yesterday’s shitstorm surrounding YACHT’s botched publicity stunt—wherein they faked a sex tape scandal to promote their new music video—this morning the former Portland/now LA-based indie-pop duo/romantic couple released an apology. It’s their second attempt—yesterday they issued a statement claiming that they’d expected their stunt would stir “interest, skepticism, and laughter”—but this one seems genuinely heartfelt and thanks those who called them out (although it does still include a link to their music video). “After all is said and done, of course you should be mad at us,” they say, “We’re mad at us too.” The incident has ignited a conversation about the detriment of revenge porn, and in the end, that’s a good thing.
