So this “Zou Bisou Bisou” thing from Mad Men looks like it’s gonna be around for awhile, so we may as well settle back and enjoy it. Here’s a new cut, featuring Jean Claude Van Damme transfixing the members of Sterling, Cooper, Draper and Pryce with his extremely erotic dance moves. HOW CAN THEY RESIST???
By the way, if you are as suddenly obsessed with the 1960s French pop “yé-yé” movement as I am, there’s a great YouTube channel for that! (I particularly suggest Alice Dona’s “C’est Pas Prudent” and Christine Pilzer’s “Dracula.” Love that album cover!)

IF WE’RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT MID-60’S FRENCH POP MUSIC, LETS START WITH JACQUES DUTRONC.
HERE’S TWO OF MY FAVORITES:

I believe Gillian Hills recorded “Zou Bisou Bisou” first, although it’s not one of her best songs. My favorite Gillian Hills song it this duet w/ Serge Gainsbourg:

but it isn’t as good as her performances in Blow Up and A Clockwork Orange.
BTW, Portland’s 60’s French pop cover band Les Étrangers is playing their first show in over a year on May 18. They play a couple of Dutronc songs.
Sylvie Vartan
that is all.
C&B: that’s hardly all. There’s still Françoise Hardy, France Gall, Pussy Cat, Marie Laforêt, Jacqueline Taïeb, …
If anyone’s interested in learning more about yé-yé, this site is highly recommended:

C&B is right. That is pretty much all.
