The allegation that the City overspends on affordable housing units is based on flawed Willamette Week reporting, which they and others have since used to critique these voter-approved investments.

They may have succeeded in whipping up anti-housing sentiment among fear-addled tea partiers, but here in the fact-based universe we still understand nuance, math and common sense.

Unfortunately our Mayor appears to believe the reporting and disbelieve his colleagues, housing advocates and development experts, all of whom support sensible spending commensurate with such an important, long-term public asset. The Mayor's lack of understanding is one of the main reasons for the paralysis that's infected his housing strategy.
