The Beaverton School District (BSD) announced Wednesday morning that it was placing all of its 53 schools on lockout after receiving a threatening message that mentioned a gun on Facebook.
“Late in the evening of Tuesday December 18, 2018 Beaverton School District received a threat to harm our community via their Facebook account,” reads a message on the district’s website. “The threat is similar in nature and content of several other online threats that have been received in our region. Those other threats have been investigated and determined not to be credible.”
The Oregonian reports that one district school also received a threatening phone call Wednesday morning.

BSD said the Beaverton Police Department is following up on the threats, and that the FBI has been notified.
In another message, the district clarified that a lockout “means business as usual inside the school.”
“All perimeter doors are locked,” the message continued. “For students in portables, all transitions will be supervised by adults.”
The district is canceling all after-school activities for the day. It said that parents and guardians who want to pick up their kids early may do so by reporting to their school office.
