Here are just a few of the horrifying, confusing videos coming in from Japan following (and during) the earthquake.

View from inside a Japanese grocery store.

View during the earthquake from inside an apartment in Miyagi, Japan (AUDIO NSFW, and who can blame him?).

Raw footage of Japanese residents AFTER the earthquake listening to a public service announcement. The sense of calm here is one of the most unnerving things I’ve seen yet.

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. When I was in the Tokyo airport there was a 5.1 earthquake and it was so weird because I could feel the shaking but no one seemed to notice at all. I had to go online to see that there actually had been a quake.

  2. When we have a large earthquake here, people are going to shit their pants and panic….including me. Ya gotta give it up to the Japanese and their calmness and preparedness with quakes.
