Late Wednesday afternoon, the Multnomah County Medical Examiner released the autopsy report for Patrick Kimmons, who died last month after being shot by two Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers.

The report was released just hours after a Multnomah County Grand Jury found that the officers were not at fault for Kimmons’ death. Police maintain Kimmons was running toward the officers with a weapon at the time of the shooting;his family and protestors say there is more to the story and demand a full, unedited video of the shooting be released.

Kimmons’ family and demonstrators gathered at SW 4th and Main yesterday to protest the grand jury’s finding. At that protest, a man was arrested for driving his truck into the crowd and hitting one protestor, who was identified by fellow protestors at the scene as Portland activist Teressa Raiford.

The Multnomah County autopsy report found Kimmons died due to multiple gunshot wounds in his chest, legs, thighs, and buttocks. Police shot Kimmons at around 3 am on Sept 30; the autopsy report says he was transported to Oregon Health Science University and was still awake and answering questions at 3:24 am.

Doctors attempted a blood transfusion and a cardiac massage. Kimmons’ declared time of death was 4:10 am.

You can read the full autopsy report here.

  1. How does someone running TOWARD you get shot multiple times in the back? Read the autopsy report. The gunshots entered from the back and went through the front of his body. But we’re meant to believe he was charging toward the cops, gun a blazing, and the cops just unloaded a dozen bullets in him to stop the super human train coming at them. Riiiiiigggggghhhhht. I mean I realize people are stupid and racist as fuck, but seriously, the autopsy report proves the cops lied. But of course it doesn’t matter now b/c they’ve been cleared. Fuck the police and all of their sympathizers.

  2. And just out of curiosity how is releasing this document not a violation of HIPAA laws? I mean I get he’s dead, but don’t privacy laws still exist? There’s a lot of information in the report that is not relevant to the shooting and further dehumanizes the victim.

  3. Christina Rae – this was essentially an active shooter situation from a use of force and tactical standpoint. No different than some deranged teen in the mall shooting up the place.

1 – the police arrive on scene, lights flashing on multiple cars

2 – they get out to check on a fight, and a guy shoots two people who are fighting (not fighting with him, so this wasn’t self defense)

3 – The guy with the gun starts running around, and runs straight toward the police. He is still carrying the gun.

4 – (This is key) There are also several other civilians in the immediate area, and the police had just witnessed the guy with the gun shoot 2 of them.

5 – In this type of active shooter case, it is protocol to use force to stop the threat, as it should be, to protect the police and surrounding civilians. That is what happened. Whether or not the shots were in the front (a few of them appear to be) or in the back, the reasoning is still the same. In the eyes of the law and common sense, this is no different that the police pursuing and shooting multiple times the lunatic who shot up the Synagogue in Philadelphia.

  4. What’s missing from the story is Rolling 60s Crips gang member Patrick Kimmons opened fire and tried to murder two men, shooting one in the back. Then, when the police arrived, Rolling 60s Crips gang member Patrick Kimmons opened fire on the officers.

One friend of the men shot, who is also a gang member, said to police: “If one of my homies is dead, I’m gonna turn this city upside down.”

I wonder how these extreme leftists would have responded if they were there that night when Rolling 60s Crips gang member Patrick Kimmons was opening fire in public? Maybe they’d find the nearest flower and offer it to him with a gentle hug?

I’m a Democrat, by the way, but these extreme leftist (like extreme right-wingers) drive me nuts!

  5. @JTR: My mistake… I read one article where it stated he did shoot, but you’re right, all other articles do not say he did. He did point the gun at police officers, though… which, you probably should not do if you want to live to see the next day.

I had two uncles who were gang-bangers (Mexican prison gangs) and had guns, robbed people, broke out of county jail after assaulting a deputy, did drugs, got into fights… the whole nine yards. I have little sympathy for these kind of people…. especially if you have little kids at home while you’re engaging in a gun fight and trying to murder people at a downtown parking lot at 3 in the morning.
