Portland Police Bureau Captain Mark Kruger probably isn’t too happy with this video, posted by Robert Seaver, who claims to be a former friend of Kruger’s.

Kruger has come under fire for brush-ups with Nazi images before, as reported in the Willamette Week in 2004. YouTube sent Seaver an email asking that he edit or remove the video after they received complaints that it violated Kruger’s privacy.

In an email sent to the Portland Mercury, Seaver said he believes Kruger himself filed the complaint with YouTube, and that Kruger is using his position as an officer to force YouTube to act. When the Mercury reached Seaver by phone, he declined to elaborate.

Over at the Police Bureau, spokesperson Mary Wheat said she has no idea who complained to YouTube.

“Everybody’s got a right to make a complaint to YouTube, just like everybody’s got a right to post something,” Wheat said. She also wondered how quotes in the video attributed to Kruger were obtained, and if they’d been confirmed as things Kruger actually said.

Kruger declined requests for an interview, Wheat said, because Kruger said the Mercury “was not an objective news source.”

  1. So it appears the police union protects Nazis too. I was scanning around the post and had to stop, because it was becoming increasingly obvious that this person is still a police officer.
    In Portland.

This person is still a police officer. In Portland.

Now I really, really, need to lie down.

  2. Not that it has anything to do with this post, but in response to ‘gonetorio’ I would like to point out that it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of political affiliation in Oregon.

  3. This is not about political affiliation. This is about a sadistic mental illness, best exemplified in recent history by Adolph Hitler.

Is it illegal for PPD to do an extensive psychological evaluation on a policeman suspected of dangerous psychological ailments, and perform a lie-detector test to help establish if Seaver is telling the truth about this guy’s behavior and statements?

  4. “So it appears the police union protects Nazis too.”

–it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of political affiliation in Oregon.

“This is not about political affiliation. This is about a sadistic mental illness, best exemplified in recent history by Adolph Hitler.”

–What? I actually went back and watched the video, thinking that I had missed something important by stopping after about a minute. There is absolutely nothing compelling in the video, nor in the WW article Matt linked to.

I fucking hate cops with a passion, but it is hard to view this as anything more than somebody with an axe to grind trying to make things uncomfortable for somebody else.

Like I said before, none of this has anything to do with the post. The post is dealing with the suggestion that Kruger has used his authority as a police officer to intimidate youtube into removing the video. Abuse of authority is the kind of behavior a cop can be taken to task for. Keep your eye on the prize, slugger.

  5. this creepy turd is long-time well-known NUT-JOBBER and why he is still with PoPiggy’s probably has more to do with Rosie Sizer as she seems unable to flush any of the PoPo Turds down the drain. maybe there is some truth to long rumored tales of her climb to the top being more that of who she bed-hopped with than with any
remarkable degree of intelligence or management skills (so far, they’re below even a simple “pass”) and could be that this turd was just one of her bunk-buddies that favors are still owed…???

  6. Oh man, I read that last sentence and pictured Kruger saying the Merc “was not an objective news source.”

Then I pictured him calling us a bunch of “fucking hippies” in a thick German accent while grabbing the ass of a busty blonde fraulein in leiderhosen and pigtails, and I started laughing my ass off.

  7. Spudboy,

the video is compelling because a witness is giving convincing testimony (those comments Seaver attributes to Kruger are rather difficult to cook up together like that. They are the comments of someone with an axe to grind with humanity, and I doubt someone would make them up and attribute them to someone else…)

The fact that there are lawsuits naming him also tends to corroborate the assertions about this man’s behavior being out of control.

Also, there is a third party who also came forward to support the allegations of the phobia-party held in the cruiser.

In fact, I bet more people don’t come forward because they are afraid he’ll go off the deep end and do a few machine-gun rounds down at city hall.

You know, I always hearken back to the tragedy at Dunblaine, where everyone in town knew that the guy who massacred all those kindergartners was a complete and total nut job.

I would say there is enough evidence to warrant an in-depth psychological evaluation of this guy and give him a desk job if he can’t be fired. Maybe that’s what the precinct head job is about.

    Passing the trash.

  8. I agree with Spud boy…… and the Mercury is NOT an objective news source….. I have first hand knowedge of this….. I’ve had a Mercury reporter tell me to my face that he has an agenda….. (*cough* Matt Davis)

  9. There have been police officers removed from their duties because they can’t be taken seriously. They make it too easy for the defendant’s lawyers. “Sweet, give me the Officer Foo file, this one will be easy.”

I went to the “trauma nurses talk tough” class in exchange for getting a traffic ticket removed. Kruger gave an introduction in a movie they played. When his face showed up, there was a visible hubbub moving through the audience. People were turning to their neighbors and asking “why is this guy in the presentation?”

  10. “the video is compelling because a witness is giving convincing testimony”

Are you talking about the part a the beginning? I can’t really figure out what is supposed to be going on there, and all I can make out is something about a highway(?).

“those comments Seaver attributes to Kruger are rather difficult to cook up together like that. They are the comments of someone with an axe to grind with humanity, and I doubt someone would make them up and attribute them to someone else…”

Even if he did make the statements, it is quite possible that he did so in jest, being that he was making them to a friend. My friends and I often say outlandish shit to each other as a way of mocking those we are parroting as well as those who lack the complexity of imagination to conceive of people with differing opinions as anything less than monsters.

Kruger may very well be an asshole, I don’t know, but there is no compelling evidence in this post to justify that conclusion. Similarly, there is nothing in this post that leads to your breathless original comment. Nonetheless, I apologize for belittling your opinion.
