GOOD MORNING, BLOGTOWN! Let’s not pretend, they wanna pack pistol by they waist (men), Cristal by the case (men), still in they mother’s basement. LET’S GO TO PRESS.
A high school student in Pennsylvania is arrested after going on a stabbing spree this morning, attacking at least 20 and seriously injuring four. No theories yet on why the attack took place.
Get ready for the shock of your life: The Senate GOP blocks a Democratic bill that would curb paycheck discrimination against women. Because they hate women, and you already knew that.
The Rev. Al Sharpton continued to preside over his annual civil rights conference today, even after admitting yesterday that he assisted the FBI in bringing down mobsters in the ’80s. GOOD. I never liked mobsters in the ’80s anyway.
Well, it was nice while it lasted! Arizona socialite Pamela Philips was convicted yesterday of murdering her ex-husband with a car bomb—but not before spending years whooping it up in Europe with his insurance money.
Security researchers discover an insidious way for hackers to peep into your emails, social networks, and e-commerce transactions—without leaving a trace. Maybe time to change your password?
Now let’s see what CNN is talking about today… OH! It’s the missing Malaysian jet! Still haven’t found it. Though searchers are apparently hearing “pings.” Keep us informed, CNN!
Former WWE superstar Ultimate Warrior has gone to that big ring in the sky.
Toyota is recalling 6.4 million of their vehicles worldwide, due to problems with air bag deployment and seats that move during crashes, which doesn’t sound good at all.
Courtroom drama! The prosecution in the Oscar Pistorius murder trial really lays into the defendant, attempting to make him recant his flimsy story, and admit he murdered his girlfriend.
Locally, charges have been dropped against the owner of tuxedo company Mr. Formal, who was accused of pointing a gun (with laser sights on!!) at another driver during a road rage incident. (It doesn’t say whether he was wearing a tux at the time.)
Hillary Clinton visited Portland yesterday to talk about “Women Changing the World” and (of course) Voodoo Doughnuts—which apparently is a contractual obligation while visiting Portland these days.
Now here’s what’s going on in your neck of the woods: Mostly sunny and cool with highs in the low to mid 60s throughout the weekend. Woooooot!
And finally, a NYC subway car full of passengers panics a rat that finds its way onboard. (Actually, the passengers are more panicked—which makes this waaaaaay more funny.)

Isn’t it time that we have proper knife control legislation? Every household in America has far more knives than anyone needs. We need to either confiscate or register all knives.
You will take my Heinkel set from my cold dead hands buddy, you and that Obama will NEVER take my knives!
Ultimate Warrior was on the outs with the WWF / WWE for years (lawsuits, etc.) but just came back recently to be in their Hall of Fame. Here’s the text from a speech that the gave the night before he passed away, it was his first time back on TV with WWF in something like 15 or 20 years.
“No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own. Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe a final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others, and makes them bleed deeper and something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized. By the storytellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the running the man did live forever. You, you, you, you, you, you are the legend-makers of Ultimate Warrior. In the back, I see many potential legends. Some of them with warrior spirits. And you will do the same for them. You will decide if they lived with the passion and intensity. So much so that you will tell your stories and you will make them legends, as well. Ultimate. You are the Ultimate Warrior fans. And the spirit of Ultimate Warrior will run forever!”
I’d say that’s some ultimate ironic foreshadowing.
Hey Andy! How many kids do you thing that knife-wielding student would have killed if he had gotten his hands on a gun?
(I will take your silence as you creeping sheepishly back under your rock.)
Of course, if that school kid had a gun instead of a knife, lots of children would be dead.
It’s baffling to me how in the 21st century there are still people idiotic enough to support legal gun ownership.
Dozens of countries have nutty laws restricting and outlawing knives. In Britain, where you can go to prison for carrying a pocket knife, the idea of outlawing kitchen knives was seriously considered.
Way to go, jerks. A bunch of kids were heinously attacked with a weapon and you make it into a fucking gun debate. Maybe you guys should dig into the attackers past to see if he ever said anything bad about homeless bike-riding transsexuals. Then you can really have a field day!
If somebody who wasn’t a giant pussy had a knife on the subway in New York they could have threatened the rat until it decided to get off at the next stop. Without it’s shiny new shell toe Adidas.
Why do people seem to think that this revelation about Al Sharpton is a scandal?
If Stu or Steven had a gun, I think they would have a hard time knowing what end the bullets come out of.
Too bad you anti-gun wackos have never read the Preamble to the Bill of Rights and know of its importance to all of the amendments.
Ice Prez, that is why I made a joke (albiet not that funny) about it……I am really tired of everything on here coming with a stupid anti gun spin. We get it, you don’t like or are afraid of them (to quote that genius that used to work for you” I am terrified of guns”…firearms are inanimate objects , be a lot more concerned about who is using them )…….sorry for the derail Ice Prez, but I agree with you . Not that I expect anything more than childish behavior from this group of self important children led by someone who is pushing 50 and thinks acting like a teenager is hilarious.
That was an inappropriate way to work in you little spin, and you may be intelligent or ethically honest enough to see this……but I doubt it. I am not going to bother to read your predictable immature” snarky “response…..do better
The actual problem of gun violence which does exist is not impacted positively by your high school level attempt at spinning everything. Perhaps you could attempt to post things that can be helpful? I realize that involves work but your credibility would be much higher….at least research your culled stories before making conclusions or indulging in the p/a”snark” bullshit. That is the vestige of cowards and the ethically dishonest
Perhaps consider a piece that investigates why these horrific incidents are becoming disturbingly more frequent
