Good morning, Portland. The sky is cloudy and drizzly, the Blazers will play the Warriors again tonight, and our abortion rights are under attack.

Here are the headlines.

Seriously, Our Abortion Rights Are Under Attack: And the siege won’t stop in blood-red states like Alabama and Georgia—the point is for these laws to get challenged in court, so that one case might make its way to the Supreme Court, giving the dickhead majority a chance to further weaken or even kill Roe v. Wade. So what the hell can you do about it?

Yep, They’re Very Much Under Attack: Literally as I write this blog post, another state has passed a draconian anti-abortion bill. The Missouri State Senate passed a bill this morning that would ban abortion after eight weeks, before many women even know they are pregnant. It passed with the support of every Republican, and three Democrats.

McCain’s Legacy: The “intelligence” prompting the Trump administration to consider a war with Iran is shaky at best—but hey, that’s never stopped us before. God bless this pro-life country!

Have You Voted Yet? In local news, we’re having a special election next week—and the future of Portland Public Schools’ board hangs in the balance. Get informed before filling out your ballot.

Here’s the Kicker: The latest state revenue forecast predicts that Oregonians can expect the largest-ever tax kicker—that’s extra money leftover from tax revenues—in state history. It really couldn’t come at a better time.

Weed Goes Legit: The Oregon Senate passed a historic bill yesterday that would provide the framework for Oregon to export its cannabis—that is, once federal law allows it. This could eventually help establish Oregon’s reputation as being “weed country,” the same way the Napa Valley is known as wine country.

It’s a Step: A bill that’s heading to Governor Kate Brown’s desk would require county jails to provide the state with more inmate healthcare data. Oregon currently doesn’t do much tracking of county jail inmates—but at least 306 inmates have died in Oregon and Washington jails since 2008.
