GOOD MORNING, PORTLAND! For you I’d write a symphony. I’d tell the violin, “It’s time to sink or swim.”
Watch them play for ya. LET’S GO TO PRESS.

Burgerville employees wearing “Abolish ICE” buttons were sent home from work by management—who later reversed their ruling. But they’re really uncomfortable with it.

The “Better Naito” project—which opens up a lane for bikes, pedestrians, and scooters every summer along the waterfront—is shutting down for the season later this month. BUT YOU CAN MAKE IT A PERMANENT THING. HERE’S HOW!

Nike’s partnership with former quarterback Colin Kaepernick, which sent racists into a tizzy yesterday, has reached the ears of our racist criminal president, who unsurprisingly doesn’t like it. In short, Nike’s plan is going just as they expected.

Day two of Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court hearings start today, and Democrats are furiously trying to paint the nominee as a partisan water-carrier for Trump who’s also against women’s rights. (Which he is.)

As demonstrators continue to show up at Kavanaugh’s hearings, President Trump is now suggesting that protesting should be illegal. That point of view is not going to work out well for him.

The Washington Post printed excerpts of reporter Bob Woodward’s new book about the Trump White House, titled Fear, and oh boy! IT IS JUICY, and gives a shocking peek into Trump’s “crazytown.”

To the surprise of no one, “Crazytown mayor” Trump really, really hates that book.

Meanwhile Southern Republicans are getting behind Jeff Sessions after Woodward’s book reveals how much Trump despises Southerners.

In last night’s Massachusetts Democratic primary race, Ayanna Pressley pulled out a stunning victory over a 10-term incumbent, who will become the state’s first Black congressperson if she wins in November.

For those who still pine for former President Obama, you’ll be seeing him again soon… on the campaign trail for Democratic candidates.

Twitter and Facebook execs are appearing before Congress in an attempt to convince them they are better prepared to stop Russian election interference this time around.

Now let’s check in on the WEATHER: Today brings the HEAT with sunny skies and a high of 90.

And finally, because you requested it, a cat obsessively brushing its teeth with an electric toothbrush.

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. From your link to the WaPo:

“I think it’s embarrassing for the country to allow protesters. You don’t even know what side the protesters are on.” –Our President. Of ALL of US.

“Trump has bristled at dissent in the past, including several instances in which he has suggested demonstrators should lose their jobs or be met with violence for speaking out.”

    Thanks, Republicans.

You too, Rupert “uncle Snoopy” Murdoch.

  2. I will vote this election for candidates who prioritize citizens over illegal aliens (bet you thought that was a given …not anymore), those who oppose sanctuary cities, amnesty and taxpayer funded in state college tuition discounts for illegals. That means NO Democrats. Gallup poll- 57% of Democrats now view socialism positively, little changed from 2010 survey.

When you reward illegal immigration with jobs, amnesty, drivers licenses, discounts for college tuition, scholarships encourages MORE illegal entry.. Just debating DACA in congress is costing taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars….. thank the parents.

Sanctuary cities? Eventually, as cities across the country begin announcing they will NOT be sanctuary the criminals, gang members, illegals living there will flock to the nearest welcoming sanctuary city. So you will get an increase in crime and expenses. There are some fine examples-San Francisco, Portland, LA, Philly. The only real justice is the people who live in these sanctuary cities will get exactly what they wished and fought for. A city that is sanctuary to felons and fugitives….with more arriving every day.

  3. Nike uses American prison labor, i.e. slavery, as well as overseas sweatshops. If Colin called for a boycott of Nike until they actually stood up for human rights and stopped profiting off of slavery, and if the right wingers were also boycotting Nike (albeit for the wrong reasons) maybe this would send a message? Especially in light of the prison strikes.
