Stay up to date on Portland news and politics. Looking for fun? Here are the best Things to Do in Portland today.
Good morning, Portland! As I type, there’s a beautiful purple sunrise happening outside my window—but alas, I fear the cause is scummy, stagnant air.
Anyway, here are the headlines!
What’s Happening? Two former Twitter employees have been charged with using their jobs to spy on users on behalf of the Saudi Arabian government. The employees allegedly weren’t authorized to access Twitter users’ private information—but they were able to get their hands on it anyway.
TV President: New reporting shows that Donald Trump wanted Attorney General William Barr to hold a press conference to publicly clear Trump of any wrongdoing in the Ukraine scandal—but Barr refused. It’s always interesting to see the arbitrary points at which Trump’s lackeys suddenly grow a spine, isn’t it?
Shocker—Company That Benefits From Feminist Advertising Abuses Woman:
This was a long time coming. For years, I felt broken and alone- I waited, yet no one reach out to help.
Now I am ok. But the system isn’t. And I can’t stay silent.
This was hard to share, so thanks @lindsaycrouse & @nytimes for all your support. ❤️https://t.co/9jyreuYKJ0

Bong and Enter (Sorry): Portland cannabis grower and processor Shadowbox Farms was robbed last week—and management believes the theft was carried out by people “with inside knowledge of our operations.” Get the full story from our weed coverage.
Public Unrest: What do protests in Hong Kong, New York City, and Santiago all have in common? They all involve—and in some cases, directly revolve around—public transportation. As a history professor from Washington State University told Vox: “Transportation is not just about having a well-run system from the standpoint of economists or engineers, but about people’s basic dignity.”
Stick It: A Portlander spotted a police car with a “Blue Lives Matter” sticker the other day, so they Tweeted about it. Turns out that sticker goes against Portland city policy.
Equal Pay Down Under: I’m not sure why, but I feel like there’s something particularly humiliating about being outpaced by Australia. But that’s exactly what’s happening when it comes to equal pay in soccer—US Soccer, take note!
