I was in Corvallis yesterday and had to stop to snap photos of the graffiti covering an old gas station on the edge of town.

Theories:
1) This is a right wing plant meant to discredit Occupy.
2) This is the work of the youth, who can’t be blamed because the building didn’t have spell check.
3) How did they manage to spell “corporations” but not “revolt”?

Sarah Shay Mirk reported on transportation, sex and gender issues, and politics at the Mercury from 2008-2013. They have gone on to make many things, including countless comics and several books.

  1. So… this isn’t actually representational of Occupy Corvallis. It sounds like some dumbass ran around some area of the city with a spray paint can. Perhaps you should judge their spelling by that on their page (Facebook) or on their signs (from the actual occupation).

  2. Suggestions for future graffiti:

    Powder to the pimple!

We’re all living in the dominatrix!

    Down with silk underwear!

(I know, there’s nothing wrong with that last one, but I like it anyway.)

  3. “People, in general, are idiots. I don’t think Occupy is immune to that.”
I would put the percentage of Occupiers that are idiots at 99%.

  4. No, Cup. I can’t. The pressure is just too much for me. Jokes about pulling down underwear are all I can manage today.

You do know it’s a Monday, right?

  5. Revolt to the Corporations has been on that building for many years… As for the rest, most Occupy Corvallis folks I’ve met are highly educated – this is clearly not from them. Take five minutes and talk to one instead of just name calling and you might learn something. And, Sarah, your headline is very poorly chosen and shows your unprofessional bias…
