Hey, cheap-ass Portland cinephiles! Groupon’s got a deal going for the excellent Roseway Theater: $12 for two tickets and a popcorn.

Honestly, that’s not a huge price break—the Roseway’s concessions are already reasonable, and normal admission for non-3D movies is only $7 a ticket to begin with—but maybe it’s worth getting in on if you’ve been looking for an (even cheaper) way to visit to the Roseway. (Upcoming engagements at the theater include digital restorations of Taxi Driver, and possibly Dr. Strangelove and From Here to Eternity; as I’ve rambled about before, it’s a truly fantastic place to see movies.) And you’re okay with supporting Groupon, that is—which, you know, might not be that awesome of a thing to support.

  1. Oh man, oh shit, I was wondering where I would be able to see Rio 3D or Pirates Of The Bloated Franchise — I was worried I would have to go downtown or possibly the Lloyd Center.

Meanwhile, NWFC just finished up an amazing run of French crime films.

  2. For those interested, the “Classic French Crime Films” series cat & beard’s referring to continues for a few more days, actually: Classe Tous Risques plays again on Wednesday (http://www.portlandmercury.com/portland/Mo…), and Godard’s Band of Outsiders wraps up the series this weekend.

For those interested in classic film in general, it sounds like the Roseway’s getting Taxi Driver on Friday. If the digital restoration of Breakfast at Tiffany’s that the Roseway showed a few weeks ago is any indication, De Niro’s mole is gonna look AMAZING.

  3. Todd no need for a Groupon for a sex club. Just get your sugar daddy or sugar momma to pay according to which day you are planning on going.
