MEN—Despite the name, this one’s really more for the ladies. Gaycation—Holocene’s monthly queer dance-a-thon, with DJs Mr. Charming and Snowtiger—kicks it up with DJs JD Samson and Johanna Fatemen of Le Tigre. GIMLETS ‘N’ GARTERS—Start the night off right with a happy hour at the Fez, surrounded by your lesbian pals. This month’s Gimlets ‘n’ Garters features showgirls, exotic dancers, and—hooray!—a free drink, plus girly lounge music just right for sipping and chatting. MEN ON THE VERGE 2—Insight Out Theatre Collective is remounting this play, with the help of Basic Rights Oregon and the Q Center. As such, we’ll remount part of our earlier review of it: The play “is first and foremost a showcase for the prodigious talents of Andres Alcalá. The play is comprised of 13 short scenes about gay Hispanic men, and Alcalá plays every role: from a repressed Catholic atoning for a night of three-way sex to a Chilean restaurant owner whose lover has just been killed in the 9/11 bombings. Alcalá’s virtuoso performance ranges from hilarious to heartbreaking as he explores, with cat-like agility, the peaks and valleys of Guillermo Reyes’ somewhat bipolar script.” (AH). DYKEMARCH 2007 and PORTLAND TRANS MARCH—The annual DykeMarch—the raucous women’s march through downtown on Pride eve—is joined by the first ever Trans March. PRIDE FAMILY FUN RUN/WALK—Kicking off the events at the waterfront, this family-friendly run/walk loops around Portland’s bridges and wraps up with a bagel and fruit breakfast, courtesy of Pride Northwest and the Portland Frontrunners.
