Fast Company magazine tracked down and interviewed the Double Rainbow Guy (aka Paul Vasquez) I have been mercilessly laughing at for the last few days, and at first, I was like, “BOOOOOOO!!!” I have exactly zero interest in learning more about the people I openly mock—because usually they turn out to be “all right” and I end up feeling like a dick. AGAIN. However! After reading this, one of the most unintentionally hilarious interviews of all time, I feel awesome. But… WHAT DOES IT MEAN??

Double Rainbow Guy on what it takes to make a video go viral:

“When I first shot it, I was like, Whoa,” says the professional cagefighter-turned-nature-lover. “I always knew it had the potential—that it was special—and I was thinking it was going to catch on. I shot a video before called Giant Intense Rainbow that had the capability of going viral, but when I shot this one, I was like, this is even better.”

On why he’s like Noah:

“People are connecting with it because they feel the spirit in it,” he says. “I feel like Noah, because I’m building what seems like an ark here. I have greenhouses, fruit-trees, and I’m working toward alternative energy. It was probably something like the burning bush that Moses experienced.”

On what he plans to do with his newfound popularity:

“I’ve been thinking about this a lot. Last night I went to an Indian sweat and I prayed really hard about this. When I shot the video, I was not high at all, I was not having sex, and I was not hiking, as a lot of people assume. This is my land that I bought in 1988. Wait, what was the question?

On describing the beauty of the double rainbow AGAIN:

“It started to double! Then it turned into a triple! Then a complete circle, like a complete disc of color! Like a giant eye looking at me! You could feel the rays, like of the sun, but it was rainbow rays!

God bless ya, ya stupid fucking hippie internet meme. You made my week.

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. you people with these negative comments. First of all you all must be on drugs if you don’t know the meaning of the rainbow. The rainbow is a covenant given by God the Creator of Heaven and earth, to us as a symbol that He would not destroy the earth by water again. People of the earth had become so wicked/sinful that God destroyed everything with the exception of Noah and his wife, three sons, and three daughter in laws. If you don’t have an understanding about the things pertaining to God, it is best that you don’t make negative comments. And to attack this man on his looks is a shame. All because he gave God some glory. Shame on ya’ll. Read Genesis chapters 6-9. Genesis chapter 9 verses 8-13. Verse 13 reads as follows : I do set MY Bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant (promise) between ME and the earth :14 And it shall come to pass when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud :15 And I will remember MY covenant (promise), which is between Me and you (Noah), and every living creature of all flesh and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16: And the bow shall be in the cloud and I will look upon it , that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. :17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between ME and all flesh that is upon the earth.

  2. wow, the interviewer should win “dick of the week” award. WHy do you have to be an ass bang just because of his spirituality. The video was HILARIOUS. I have shared it with everyone and yes we roll with laughter… but why do yo uahve to be a dick hole about it and toss out insults? On the whole, humans suck at life.
Thanks, Double Rainbow Guy, for making me laugh and smile after a hard day! We may not share the same views but in some way your message gets through in the form of laughter (happiness). And thanks for working towards a green way of life. Especially in light of the recent oil disaster.
