So right about now you’re thinking… man. I really need to run to the store to stock up on drinking water for when WE get hit by a natural disaster not unlike Hurricane Sandy. BUT MY BACK HURRRRRRRTS.

Well, save that aching back and buy The Water Bob instead! It’s a giant rubber bladder you put inside your tub, fill it up with 100 gallons of water, and then drink… drink… DRINK your way out of a dehydrating natural disaster. Or you could put vodka in it—which is what I would do. WATCH.

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. …but seriously though, people in Portland should really stock up on water. That’s not a joke.

Protip: don’t use this thing for drinking water, use it for sanitary needs. If you need drinking water, you can empty your hot-water heater. That will be enough water to last 2 individuals 2 days.

  2. When the big one hits we won’t have 20 minutes to fill the water bob and we may not be able to access out hot water heaters. I have enough water for four people and two dogs to last around two weeks in my garage. I also have water filtration tablets. I don’t mess around – Oregon does not have enough electoral votes to be able to expect a rapid response from Washington DC.
