The sad day we all expected has finally arrived. Late night talk show master David Letterman has announced his retirement. From TV Line:

The late-night TV vet will hang up his Top Ten lists and such in 2015, he shared with the audience at the taping of Tuesday’s Late Show With David Letterman, to air at 11:35 pm EST.

Mike Mills, bassist for tonight’s musical guest R.E.M., broke the news on Twitter; TVLine has since confirmed.

Might want to watch tonight’s show—it will probably be one for the ages.

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)
