Faces
Gary Mac Smith’s paintings of faces come from his unmediated psyche. The Portland psychiatrist uses low-viscosity acrylic on watercolor paper, while presumably channeling his inner self. The result is pretty creepy. Further, there will be a panel discussion following the opening reception entitled Art, Psychoanalysis, and the Creative Process. Littman and White Galleries Portland State University, Smith Center 1825 SW Broadway, 2nd Floor , 725-5656, Opens Fri March 7, 5:30 pm
Work
Christy Nyboer’s installation/performance examines where art forms–at the point of birth, or at the point of conception? People have died trying to answer questions such as these. Nyboer opts for acts less dramatic than dying; rather, she’ll work inside a space with a video, and viewers can interact with her by dropping notes in a slot. Portland Building Lobby, 1120 SW 5th, RACC contact: 823-5426, March 10-April 4
