I heard this song on a podcast without description, thought it was amazing, and Googled the lyrics to find out who was responsible. My mind about cracked in half when Leonard Nimoy’s name came up—singing about Hobbits is far weirder than the man’s space poems or naked photos of large women. Behold:

This was recorded before I was born, and I saw it probably 15 years after that. On TV. Because we didn’t have internet. Kids being happy when they discover old shit = so funny.
@ Andrew:
The post title alone should earn you some kind of “best of the year” award.
Simply brilliant.
Nimoy put out quite a few more records than The Shat, and while not quite as unhinged, some of them are pretty damn bizarre. Nimoy could actually carry a tune, too (albeit in a Sixties entertainer kinda way), unlike Shatner.
BTW: Why not give props to the podcast you found it on? People work hard on that stuff and like having listeners…
I’m not saying I’m the world’s leading expert in hobbit-themed music videos*, but the choreographer should be beat with a stick.
*but I am
Zachary Quinto did a dubstep ode to Frodo.
Nimoy is a bit nasal, but does a fine cover of “If I Were a Carpenter.” I’m nerdly enough that I actually wanted the first-dance ritual at our wedding set to it.
