You probably should have thought of this first: Glynis Olson is preparing to open the doors of Finger Bang on August 2—a naughtily named nail salon intended to cater to service industry folk as well as those looking for an edgier mani-pedi experience. It'll also be a new destination for nail art. They'll do basic one-color nails, too (also: waxing and dental bling), but they've snagged artists like Asa Bree and Sarah Kane, who specialize in elaborate work like the mini slices of pizza that currently adorn Olson's fingertips.

Moreover, the hours are going to be noon-midnight (seven days a week, at least to start), making it far more friendly to the schedules of those working restaurant and stripper-pole hours, or just those who tend toward night owlishness. Much in the spirit of a Bishop's or a Rudy's, the space features an edgy atmosphere, thanks in large part to the huge, fiery orange (and rather abstractly phallic) mural by Klutch that dominates the room, as well as wall-mounted televisions that'll be playing slasher and kung fu films. Expect to hear metal on the speakers, too. The complimentary beer of choice will be Montucky Cold Snack, in addition to all the wine kinds (red, white, rose, bubbles).

At 2725 NE Sandy, they're part of the emerging Zipper building's hub of mostly food- and drink-based businesses (and just a stumble from other watering holes like Church). Ideas for art shows, movie nights, and other events are in the works to, so if you're looking for a break from your usual polite mani-pedi routine, the concept of an after-drinks mani date with friends is about to become a reality.
