If free popcorn and an eclectic film selection aren't enough, Portland State University's 5th Avenue Cinema provides a down to earth atmosphere could reel in (haha) any cinema buff. As Oregon's only student-run cinema, the venue caters to the broad tastes of both PSU students and the general public. The cinema shows cult classics, contemporary independent films and more mainstream movies all on 35mm film for only 3$ to the general public. Even more, the venue was home to the inaugaral Northwest Animation Festival, an event aimed at inspiring and educating those interested in the art of animation.
