The Fuck Buttons aren't half bad either. Also fans of the quiet-loud etc dynamic, they're no Mogwai imitators: I caught them at All Tomorrow's Parties at Butlins (English holiday camp) last Christmas and thought they were great. White noise, thumping beats, Playskool mics and a lot of talent and enthusiasm. Plus they look like they're about fourteen years old, which is adorable.
wu-tang put on a very good show besides the fact that ghostface looked scared on stage and only did one verse of one song. j-mack and his crew are an embarrassment to portland and our growing hip-hop scene. with a song about how he would enjoy making a girl his screensaver showed how pathetic he was. back to the reason for the concert wu-tang did deliver although method man decided not to show
Unfukinbelievable!!!Saul kicked ass. Road Dogs were incredible. And, of course, Les is more than you'll ever be!!!
Last night's show goes down as the best I've been to in years! I'm new to Thievery Corporation! and Wow. Music with a huge political pulse. I'm so pumped after last night's show I'm ready to go out and start protesting or at least burn my radio!
And the opening band SUTRO! is just what Portland's been waiting for. A little class, a little fineness, velvety and sultry! (Listen to Sutro's interview on W+K radio ~ FREE Global Radio ... http://radio.wk.com/archive.php?id=134)
Thievery Corporation opens the door for other musicians to follow: "Apart from a few independent bastions, there is no musical or informational freedom on the US airwaves anymore," explains Hilton. "They’ve been bought up, consolidated and homogenized. Radio Retaliation is about an exodus of conscious people who are willing to acknowledge something is wrong with the 'official version' in news and culture."
"There’s no excuse for not speaking out at this point," argues Garza. "With the suspension of habeas corpus, outsourced torture, illegal wars of aggression, fuel, food, and economic crises, it’s hard to close your eyes and sleep while the world is burning around you. If you are an artist, this is the most essential time to speak up."
