Restaurant Details

Formerly an old storefront next to the Wonder Ballroom, the Spanish tapas sensation Toro Bravo is creating new fans on a daily basis. Order at least three items from the menu: Though the portions are generous by "small plate" standards, you'll want to sample as much as you can. (Even better: Go with a group, and try almost everything.) Starters like marinated sheep’s cheese with harissa and mint, gear you up for heartier courses like an incredibly tender hanger steak with roasted potatoes, braised lamb with couscous, or salt cod fritters with aioli. There's plenty here to satisfy vegetarians, too, from soft polenta to assorted veggie plates or ultra fresh salads. Meanwhile, an inventive cocktail menu relies heavily on Portland's local distilleries.

This place makes me so happy. I love to bring new people here and watch their faces as they try wonderful bite after bite. It's incredibly well-designed, the servers are gracious and attentive, and the food, well, you cannot beat it. It combines the tapas idea with all of the best the NW has to offer, relying almost entirely on locally raised and farmed goods. It IS best to go with a group, but keep in mind you might be fighting for that last forkful on some of the dishes.

I have been here three times and all three were amazing. The service is lovely with a well informed wait staff. The White Sangria is yummy although I would love to see a little more fruit at the bottom! You must try the marinated sheep's cheese with harissa, if they still have the squash blossom, my oh my! They have just as much amazing veggie fare as they do meat so all will be happy! Great atmosphere and a nice make out room to boot! ;) Cant wait to go again.

Good, imaginative spanish-type food. I floated out of the place after sharing 7 dishes including the absolutely heavenly steak (coppa) which should not be missed. Avoid the Spanish standards like the Tortilla which is just disgusting. They should either do the dish properly or take it off the menu. I love this place overall though. Best meal I've had in the last year!!!!!

Went there recently with a large group and was able to sample a lot of different things on the menu. Nearly everything was really good. I think overall the food could use a little more ZIP - more richness or spice in some of the dishes would have helped - but in general it's great. Solid service, tasty drinks, and not TOO expensive.

What can I say? Best dinner I've ever had. Holy shit: the griddled bacon wrapped dates stuffed with almonds drizzled in motherfuckin' honey.
