The recent counter demonstration by Basic Rights Oregon against the Westboro Baptist Church at the Rose Quarter was a good start. What started as a quiet, small print, back page public notice on the NBA Portland Trail Blazers’ website and got little attention from the tiny protest by the WBC, managed to get a lot of publicity due to the more extravagant, colorful, display by BRO, who has a website to raise money for their cause. This is a good idea to benefit all concerned. Let’s see a rematch inside the Rose Quarter. Sell tickets to the event and everyone wins.
Grudge Match

Do you think more people would see this if they had to pay? What sort of a show would it be; a debate? Who would moderate, that Blazers’ mascot cheerleader guy, Mike Scheckla, The Hippy Fan? Or are they just going to march around the arena, waiving their signs and shouting each other down? Maybe if there were an element of beer chugging or dope smoking it might garner more audience participation. Perhaps they could settle their differences by shooting hoops? I don’t think it would sell any tickets, but the Rose Quarter would make money by renting out the hall.
Okay, memo everybody: don’t do anything ever!

You know, Portland used to be unique. Then, word got out and everybody jumped on the bandwagon.
I eagerly paid good money for advance tickets to see Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris at the Washington Park Rose Gardens, for a live concert in support of their Western Wall, The Tucson Sessions, album CD release. After the opening couple of numbers, Linda made a serious, derogatory remark about Christians. There was no punch line. It wasn’t a pun, nor was it sarcastic or black humor. Just a simple flat out statement of something to the effect that she didn’t want Christians in attendance. It broke my heart. Even though I still wanted very badly to see the show, I had been issued a direct challenge. Dejectedly, I slumped away.
I walked towards home as usual from downtown, this time crossing Vista Bridge on the West sidewalk. On the other side of the street, I noticed a clean cut, well dressed young man who was clearly in major distress. Clearly, he was trying to muster the courage to jump. Like a coward, I ran for a payphone, afraid that I was not qualified to intercede without driving him to follow through. The police dispatcher informed me that officers were already on the scene.
I’m not sure what the significance of that all is, but what seems like an obscure, subtle, insignificant political endorsement is in fact a major challenge to fans who genuinely love basketball and would otherwise ascribe to live and let live.
Linda Ronstadt had an exceptionally fine voice, before her recent illness.

At least we still have her recordings. No need to buy, it’s free on Youtube, that pays royalties to performing rights societies for benefit of the writers, from ad revenues.

The NBA Portland Trail Blazers were doing pretty good, until back in 1992, four players coerced underage girls in Utah for sex. The team management glossed over the incident, spinning the facts, rather than dealing with it in an honest, forthright manner. After that, the Blazers went continually down hill for many long years.
Ignore the WBC and they will go away.
Every time you put on your stupid rainbow socks and wave a “clever” sign at them, it gives them more reason to keep doing what they’re doing. You fools keep falling for it, and they laugh all the way to the bank.
Just.
Don’t.
I’m no prophet. Nor am I psychic. I do happen to get a good hunch, now and then. Let’s see if we can make an hypothesis. If God is upset with the NBA Portland Trail Blazers as WBC says, then the Blazers are about to suffer the most tragic misfortune and worse loosing streak in the history of the franchise. Same goes for politicians or anyone else who supported the Equal Marriage canard. You can already see what’s happening with Governor John Kitzhaber. The majority of citizens of the State of Oregon might narrowly be spared, as they passed a law against homosexual misuse of the term marriage.

WBC did Blazer fans a public service by alerting them to the reason why the team is flirting with disaster. There is no need for a boycott, as even the most loyal of fans, save one, are terribly fickle. When the NBA Portland Trail Blazers loose incessantly, nobody will be attending the games anymore, anyway.
Game over.
At least Portland still has the beloved, globalists’ game of soccer, thanks to the killing of America’s pass time, baseball, by Sam Adams
