GOOD MORNING, PORTLAND! When your will is broken, when it slips from your hand. When there’s no time for joking, there’s a hole in the plan. LET’S GO TO PRESS.

Let’s start the day with crybaby, chickenshit Oregon Republicans, shall we? Upon learning that they’d have to do their JOBS and participate in a vote about a huge, important plan to combat climate change, state GOP senators pitched a hissy-fit and went into hiding bringing all legislation to a full stop. Sick of their fucking bullshit, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown ordered state troopers to bring them back (which is allowed in our constitution) so they could, you know, DO THE JOBS WE’RE PAYING THEM TO DO. To illustrate the kind of toxic people some Oregonians chose to elect, Sen. Brian Boquist (R-Dallas) threatened state troopers, saying, they should “send bachelors and come heavily armed.” It should be noted that this chickenshit who tries to pretend he’s so macho is still in hiding. Bawk, bawk, bawwwwwk! ANYWAY, these cowardly, democracy-hating Republicans are still in hiding—so maybe we should just assume they’re not coming back and hold a special election to replace them? Just an idea!

Wait… I’m already paying taxes so these GOP losers will do their jobs, and now you buttholes want me to pay them again on top of that for NOT doing their jobs? Right. I WILL TAKE THAT UNDER CONSIDERATION.

IN OTHER LOCAL NEWS: According to the latest census report, Multnomah County is not only getting less white, it’s getting less youthful. Our Alex Zielinski has more on that.

Though they’re getting a lot of public pushback about disarming campus security guards, PSU is delaying any decisions about it until the fall. Our Alex Zielinski has more on that, too.

IN NATIONAL NEWS: Trump claims (for what that’s worth, and we all know that it’s not much) that he stopped a US military strike in Iran that would’ve reportedly killed 150 people because the response wasn’t “proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone.” Stand by to learn what really happened.

The Supreme Court has overturned the conviction of a Black Mississippi man who had been tried SIX TIMES (!!) for a quadruple murder—but that’s not all! The prosecutor for the case repeatedly kept Black people off the jury.

Unworthy presidential candidate Joe Biden reportedly called Cory Booker to “ease tensions” after the former veep was called out for being chummy with Southern segregationists—but is he ready to apologize? NOPE. He’d rather continue shooting himself in the foot. (Seriously you guys, check out Elizabeth Warren. She’s great.)

Former White House aide Hope Hicks testified in a closed-door interview with the House Judiciary Committee yesterday, and didn’t have a lot to say (thanks to her White House lawyer)—though she did reveal that the Trump campaign was “relieved” to have the help of Wikileaks during the 2016 election. I BET THEY WERE!

IN “KIDS WHO HAVE HORNS” NEWS: “Horns are growing on young people’s skulls. Phone use is to blame, research suggests.”

IN SPORTS NEWS: The US Women’s team beat Sweden 2-0 in the World Cup, and will face Spain on Monday, WOOT-WOOT!

IN LESS INTERESTING SPORTS NEWS: Information about the NBA draft (if you care about such things).

Now let’s peep some WEATHER: A mostly cloudy day with a high of 68, but a nicer weekend lies ahead.

And finally, it’s been a tough few years. But this is YOU heading into the coming 2020 election:

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. One of the worst things about [the proposal] is it would allow the governor to put our state into binding contracts with other states and even other foreign governments.

Senate Republicans have every right to deny a quorum because Democrats broke their pledge on resetting cap-and-trade talks.

Kate is a brown shirt Fascist that cares more about illegal aliens and out of state billionaires than hard working tax paying Oregonians. Go back to Minnesota you career hack politician!!!

  2. Kamu menulis bagus sekali…

People often do get fired for not showing up for work. (And they work a full twelve months and make a lot less)

Biden’s best role in 2020 would be to primary Trump.
